A Fall Engagement Session at Elm Bank
Winnie and Soph wanted their engagement session to feel like a quiet glimpse into a day in their lives, natural, minimal posing, and full of the small, easy moments that define their love. Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Garden at Elm Bank, with its endless gardens, hedges, and winding paths, was the perfect setting for that kind of story to unfold.
Even though it was fall, they didn’t want their photos to feel overly seasonal, more timeless than autumnal. The afternoon light wrapped everything in a soft, golden glow that made the greenery shimmer, with just one brilliant fall tree at the end of our session adding a little pop of color.
The two of them were effortlessly in love, giggly, affectionate, and completely at ease together. Soph wore a checkered beige and white dress that moved beautifully in the breeze, and Winnie paired a crisp white linen shirt with black slacks for a look that was classic yet relaxed. Together, they fit perfectly against Elm Bank’s romantic gardens and manicured hedges.
Throughout the session I focused on capturing the smaller interactions, a shared laugh, the way their hands brushed as they walked, or how they leaned in close. It felt like watching their love unfold naturally, framed by the soft light and quiet beauty of the gardens.
There is something magical about photographing a couple in a place that feels both elegant and deeply personal. Winnie and Soph’s Elm Bank engagement session was just that, romantic, fun, and full of the effortless connection that makes love so beautiful to witness.
If you are considering having your engagement session at Elm Bank, you’ll need a photography permit in advance through the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. The permit costs $75 for up to 90 minutes and four people, with the option to extend for $25 per additional half hour. I’m always happy to handle securing the permit for you so you can focus on enjoying your session and the beautiful gardens.
I am already so excited to photograph their intimate wedding at SRV in Boston next year. It is going to be such a joyful celebration of everything that makes their relationship so special!
