A Summer Wedding at The Lakehouse in Halifax, MA
A sophisticated lakeside summer wedding at The Lakehouse in Halifax, MA featuring sculptural florals, editorial portraits, and Albanian traditions.
Mariela and Greg’s summer wedding at The Lakehouse in Halifax, Massachusetts was the kind of celebration that perfectly balanced style and sentiment. On one of the hottest days of the year, these two gathered with their closest people for a day full of heartfelt moments, editorial portraits, and a beautiful lakeside ceremony.
The Lakehouse served as a backdrop for their elegant, modern celebration, where sculptural floral arrangements, full-size planters, rattan textures, and sweeping greenery transformed the space into something truly personal.
About the Couple
Mariela and Gregory met as nurses at Rhode Island Hospital—she worked days, he worked nights. Their paths crossed briefly during shift changes, where patient reports were exchanged alongside quick smiles and easy banter.
Their relationship grew as they took on travel nursing assignments during the pandemic, moving together from Maryland and Texas to Hawaii and back to New England. Over the years, they’ve built a life full of change—starting businesses, navigating grad school, and supporting one another through it all.
Family has always been a priority for them, so it meant everything that guests traveled from San Diego to Albania to be part of this day.
Getting Ready at The Lakehouse
The day began in the venue’s bright and elegant getting-ready suite. Mariela’s dress, handmade by her mother, was one of the most meaningful dresses we’ve ever captured. Every detail of it was jaw dropping!
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was Mariela and Greg’s first look. Tucked away in a quiet spot on the Lakehouse lawn, they shared an emotional and joy-filled reveal. As soon as Greg turned around, the biggest smile spread across his face, and Mariela couldn’t stop smiling either.
A Lakeside Ceremony
Set on the lawn overlooking the water, their ceremony felt both sophisticated and intimate. Guests fanned themselves in the summer sun while the couple exchanged vows surrounded by lush greens, sculptural white and blush florals, and full garden planters at the end of the aisle.
Editorial Portraits with Personality
Mariela and Greg carved out lots of time for portraits, outside on the lawn, in the modern lounge chairs, down by the water, and on the dock at golden hour. Mariela, who’s no stranger to the camera, absolutely nailed the “model-off-duty” vibe she was going for. We’d even done a posing consult beforehand so their portraits would feel stylish yet natural.
An Indoor Reception Full of Emotion
With the summer heat soaring, the cool interior of The Lakehouse was a welcome retreat. The reception design featured rattan textures, greenery, and full planters that blurred the line between indoor and outdoor styling. Each place setting had a handwritten letter from Mariela and Greg, personally thanking every guest, a gesture that left more than a few people in tears.
One of the standout moments of the evening was when Greg serenaded Mariela with “Mariella” by Leon Bridges, bringing the whole room to their feet. Later, the bride’s Albanian heritage took center stage as the dance floor came alive with traditional music and dancing, drawing guests from both near and far into a celebration that honored both family and culture.
As a wedding photographer based in Massachusetts, The Lakehouse is one of my favorite South Shore venues for a summer celebration.
Between the lakeside views, modern interiors, and warm light, it’s the perfect place for couples who want an elevated yet heartfelt wedding experience.
